Gliding Grand Prix Final in Chile

  • 25/11/2009

The 2010 Gliding Grand Prix Final is being held in Santiago, Chile in January and Yellowbrick have been chosen to provide the live real-time tracking for the event.

Having provided tracking for a number of the qualifying grand prix events in 2008 and 2009, including the qualifiers in Chile in January 2009, our tried and tested technology has been requested again for this prestigious event.

We will be using our new smaller Yellowbrick v2 units this time, and will be broadcasting the event live on the internet from Chile in full 3D with commentary every day for the followers in Europe and around the World. Commentating will be in both English and Spanish.

Before this kind of technology was used, glider racing was a very difficult sport to put across to the Public. The gliders would take off, fly several hundred kilometres and then return to land - the public wouldn't be able to see who was winning, or be able to follow it at all from the ground.

With live tracking the sport has been completely changed - the public, media and event management team can all see what's going on, live, and with 3D visuals which can almost literally put you in the cockpit of any pilot.
