Auliana II retrieved with help from Yellowbrick
- 4/12/2009

The Auliana II, the yacht which lost its rudder during the first two days of the ARC this year has been safely retrieved. The yacht drifted for about 5 days before it could be recovered, covering around 200 miles in that time with no crew aboard.
The owner of Auliana II said the following: "The Yellowbrick was very helpful in recovering the yacht. Of course we could also have known the position of the yacht by activating the EPIRB and leaving it on board. This, however, would have alerted Rescue Bremen unnecessarily and made the position semi-public information. With the Yellowbrick it was possible restrict access to the position of the yacht. Given the amount of vultures trying to go out there to strip the boat of all valuable things, this was absolutely essential."
The position of the yacht whilst drifting was relayed to the insurers and the recovery team, both online and by regular hourly text updates.
The entire Yellowbrick team are very pleased we were able to assist in the recovery of the yacht, hopefully saving the insurers and the owner a great deal of money in the process.
