Ben Saunders Arctic Expedition

  • 19/3/2010

Ben Saunders, the serial Arctic Adventurer, is at it again...

In 2008, Ben Saunders’ expedition to become the fastest man to walk solo and unsupported to the North Pole was thwarted by a critical failure of his ski equipment.

In March 2010 a fitter and more determined Ben will be reattempting the speed record, this time supported by Land Rover.

Yellowbrick are pleased to be providing a tracker for Ben and his team, and will be getting a position report every 4 hours. This will feed the website, and his support team, with critical location information. The Yellowbrick will be subjected to the extremes - extremes of temperature (minus 40 degrees C, maybe lower) and extreme environments (on the back of a sled across ice-fields for weeks isn't the most comfortable place!).

The Yellowbrick has an alert button for emergencies, which has been programmed to send a location to 4 mobiles and a couple of e-mail addresses in the event of a button push. Whilst not a certified safety device, this Yellowbrick facility lends some comfort to the support team.

We wish Ben all the best in this record attempt, and will be watching with interest!
